A Park for All Seasons

Way Park is the heart of a vibrant neighborhood on the west side of Northfield. It features: a musical playground; playground equipment and swings; pre-school equipment; a basketball court; picnic and grilling areas; a walking path; a warming hut and ice rink (seasonal); a small baseball/kickball diamond (seasonal); a large open field perfect for pick up soccer games and kite flying; and lovely rain gardens. Our organization, The Friends of Way Park hosts several events every year including Yoga in the Park, Pumpkin Fest, and a spring picnic event.

Benefit Concert this Saturday!

The Friends of Way Park invite you to a Benefit Concert this Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 pm at First United Church of Christ, 300 Union Street. Music of Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed by Andrea Een, violin and viola, and Theo Wee, organ and piano.

West First Street has been recently closed through Way Park, creating a large contiguous park for the first time since the early 1930's, when the Northfield Hospital was built on half of the land donated by the Way sisters. All proceeds from this concert will go toward implementing phase one of the new landscape design plan by Spencer Jones.

Theo Wee is marking her 40th year as organist at the First United Church of Christ and this concert is part of that celebration of her contribution to the musical and spiritual life of the congregation. Andrea Een is a music professor at St. Olaf College where she began teaching in 1977.

The program will be Sonata No. 6 in G major for Violin and Cembalo, Sonata No. 1 in B minor for Violin and Cembalo, Suite No. 3 in C Major for Solo Viola (originally cello), and the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor for Organ. General admission for the concert is $10.00. Seniors/Students: $5.00.
