A Park for All Seasons

Way Park is the heart of a vibrant neighborhood on the west side of Northfield. It features: a musical playground; playground equipment and swings; pre-school equipment; a basketball court; picnic and grilling areas; a walking path; a warming hut and ice rink (seasonal); a small baseball/kickball diamond (seasonal); a large open field perfect for pick up soccer games and kite flying; and lovely rain gardens. Our organization, The Friends of Way Park hosts several events every year including Yoga in the Park, Pumpkin Fest, and a spring picnic event.

Visions for the Restored Park

A landscape plan from the late 1930s showed Way Park as a garden or strolling park, tying together both the north and south halves of the park with paths, benches, a fireplace and a sunken garden.

What features would you include if YOU were designing a park? We're seeking your input to help guide the vision of Way Park into a reality for future generations of Northfielders.

The poster pictured here, created and illustrated by our very own Judy Swanson, shows a few proposed ideas and visions for the restored park. We're hoping to gather many more through the survey. Look for it in your mailbox and send us your suggestions!
